Set between Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables, Lake House takes on a sculptural form befitting this powerful nature landscape. Seeking to relate to both mountain and lake experiences the building functions are arranged on either side of a spine wall, with the threshold between heightening the views out. While the use of heavy-weight materials give the house a sense of permanence, their relationship to a razor thin, draped roof ensures the house an understated, relaxed character.
