This building serves as a creative workplace and residence when required – a place with a strong connection with nature. Serving as an outpost in which to retreat, breathe or for creative practice, a fundamental aspect of the project brief involved investigating the building’s visual/spatial integration into the natural landscape. The building became a dialogue with landscape - burying, floating, screening, hovering – explored through masonry block and light-weight timber construction.
